New Richmond Utilities Celebrates Public Power

New Richmond Utilities hosted our 6th annual customer appreciation picnic on Wednesday August 22. The celebration also signified 117 years of our community-owned utility. This was a great opportunity to thank customers, and highlight the benefits of being a public power community.

In celebration of public power, we invited community members to a picnic lunch at Mary Park, served by utility employees. Nearly 400 people attended the event. An energy saving compact fluorescent light bulb was given to each household represented at the picnic. Energy saving prizes were on display and raffled off, with the following lucky winners:

• ENERGY STAR® Washing Machine:John Brunner
• ENERGY STAR® Floor Lamp: Harry Ollenburg
• ENERGY STAR® Table Lamp: Sarah Ketchum
• Solio hybrid solar charger: Ranae Davis
• Programmable Thermostat: Henry Huber
• Programmable Thermostat: Jim Utect
• 6-pack Compact Fluorescent Lamps: Helen Salmon
• 6-pack Compact Fluorescent Lamps: Jack Nelson
• 6-pack Compact Fluorescent Lamps: Ray Peterson

“We thank New Richmond for joining us in celebration of the benefits of public power,” said Dennis Horner, City Administrator and Utility Manager. “As your community-owned utility, New Richmond Utilities is dedicated to helping make New Richmond a great place to live and work.”
