Energy Assistance Available to Income-Qualified Customers

Energy plays a vital role in our lives, but unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pay for it. As temperatures begin to drop, we encourage our income-qualified customers to apply for energy assistance.

The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) is a federally funded heating assistance program that can ease the energy burden facing customers with limited financial resources. To qualify for WHEAP, you must verify that your gross household income from the previous three months falls within the following guidelines:

Family Size 3-Month Income
1 $ 3,367.50
2 $ 4,545.00
3 $ 5,722.50
4 $ 6,900.00
5 $ 8,077.50
6 $ 9,255.00
7 $10,432.50
8 $11,610.00

As a customer of New Richmond Utilities, you may also be eligible for our Energy Assistance Program, which can help reduce your annual electric costs even more. If you are approved for WHEAP, you will automatically be approved for our program without having to complete any additional paperwork.

Application dates are October 1, 2003 May 15, 2004. When applying, you will need to provide information on household income and heating costs. Special assistance is available to those who are unable to apply in person.

To begin the energy assistance application process, please contact the St. Croix County Social Services office located at the New Richmond Health Center. You can reach them at (715) 246-8209. If you are unable to receive help from County Services you may also try the Salvation Army (715) 246-3260 and/or Operation Help (715) 386-0881.
